Training for experienced administrators

11 April,19 at 11:49 AM

I’d like to start by thanking my students for providing feedback on our training courses. This feedback is extremely valuable and we do listen!

On the topic of feedback, every student attending our on-site training classes will receive an email asking one simple question, “How likely are you to recommend a Centrify training class to a friend or colleague?”  It requires a single click to respond, and then offers you the opportunity to add comments, if you choose.  Again, “Thank you,” to all the students who clicked and provided additional comments.

You may have gathered already, we read these comments and take them seriously. During the review process, we found that customers are looking for additional training options, specifically in regards to advanced training for experienced users.

The current Server Suite training builds a strong foundation for Active Directory and *NIX environments. While customers with multiple years of experience can still benefit from information in the course, many pieces talk to customers who are looking to deploy their first machines, create roles, and manage rights.  I won’t give you a date, yet… However, there is a new course in the roadmap.  This course will be for customers who have already deployed Centrify and have it working in their environment.

You may be asking, “Why would I want to pay for more training when we already have Centrify deployed and working?”  I’d invite you to read my previous blog post here: http://community.centrify.com/t5/Centrify-Server-Suite/Why-do-we-need-training-if-we-ve-already-deployed-Centrify/ba-p/18987. The simple answer is that you can still learn a lot and have a great refresher on topics you may have forgotten about.

“What can we expect from this advanced training course,” another great question.  First, our training courses are always updated with best practices and current software releases. It’s a great way to ensure you are getting the most value out of the Centrify product.  Second, we will expand on roles, rights, provisioning, and reporting. We find that many customers do not use these areas to their full capacity. More often than not, we can find optimizations that help reduce the burden of administration in your environment. If you run into situations where duplication of effort exists, or you feel like something can be done better and you’re just not sure how, this course is for you!

Finally, I’d love to get more feedback from you!  I can design a course that I think you want or need, but without help from you, it may not meet your expectations.  With that in mind, please send an email to training@centrify.com with topics that you’d like to see covered in this upcoming course. Working together, Centrify can continue providing you with Enterprise level security and ease of administration.
