Question:

After 17.10 update of the Centrify Identity Platform, why do Centrify Connectors not auto update, and may also need to be rebooted during update?

Answer:

Centrify made changes that may require the server(s) running the Centrify Connectors to be rebooted during the upgrade process. Specifically, Centrify upgraded to .NET 4.6.2 and Visual Studio 2015, so .NET 4.6.2 (Microsoft KB 2919355) and the Visual Studio 2015 runtime library (Microsoft KB2999226) ) are now prerequisites for the 17.10 connector.

Both the manual installer (.zip package found at Admin portal>Network>Centrify Connectors>Add Centrify Connector) and the autoupdater will install these two components, if necessary. If these components were upgraded during the autoupdate, then the server will need to be rebooted to finish installation. The autoupdate process for 17.10 may take longer than previous releases due to the installation of the prerequisites, and it may take up to 48 hours for connectors to autoupdate once the autoupdate package becomes available.

If preferred, an Administrator can manually update using the  .zip package downloadable from  Admin portal>Network>Centrify Connectors>Add Centrify Connector in order to have control over when the reboot and update may occur.
