Tips for finding Knowledge Articles

  • - Enter just a few key words related to your question or problem
  • - Add Key words to refine your search as necessary
  • - Do not use punctuation
  • - Search is not case sensitive
  • - Avoid non-descriptive filler words like "how", "the", "what", etc.
  • - If you do not find what you are looking for the first time,reduce the number of key words you enter and try searching again.
  • - Minimum supported Internet Explorer version is IE9

KB-9197: Failed to launch Workplace by Facebook with newly provisioned user

After user is provisioned to Workplace by Facebook, the account remains in 'uninvited' state and user cannot sign in.

If user tries to launch the app from User Portal, an error is returned: 'Account closed' page displays, stating 'Your Workplace account has been closed. If you think that this is a mistake, contact your Workplace representative'.

According to the Facebook documentation:

'Until members are invited to use Workplace, they will be unaware they have a provisioned account. When an account is in an uninvited state:

1. The member cannot claim their account and any attempts to do so will fail.
2. The member will not receive any emails or other notifications from Workplace.

Facebook used to send invitation immediately after user was created, but a change has been implemented in Workplace by Facebook that requires admin to manually invite their users after they are provisioned. Otherwise, users will not be able to access the app.
