KB-9139: MFA for Amazon WorkSpaces using RADIUS with Centrify is failing

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,   Centrify Identity Service, App Plus ,

8 September,17 at 10:47 PM

Problem:

Configuring Amazon WorkSpaces to use Radius with Centrify and the authentication is failing.

Cause:

Because Amazon WorkSpaces already has a directory service it does not send the username/password information from MFA login to Centrify. It will verify the username/password directly. Amazon WorkSpaces is only sending the username and second MFA authentication values to Centrify. This second value is placed in the password value sent to the Radius service.

Resolution:

Centrify will analyze the information contained in the password value sent from Amazon WorkSpaces in the Radius request and match it to the correct factor enabled in your authentication policy for Radius. Since Amazon WorkSpaces is handling the username/password authentication for the login request, only one challenge is being sent to Centrify. Configure the Challenge 1 section of the authentication policy used for Radius login with Amazon WorkSpaces to match the factors used in the second MFA challenge used in the Amazon WorkSpaces login.
