Is a reboot of the Windows machine required after a silent install of the Centrify Agent for Windows including DirectAudit? Does the install work without the reboot?
Applies to: All Versions of Centrify Agent for Windows
Question:
Can a silent install of the Centrify Agent for Windows be done on the command line using msiexec with the /norestart flag so that the software install would not force the Windows machine to reboot after the install completes? Are there any side effects from not rebooting?
Answer:
The agent, common components and DirectAudit can all be installed with the msiexec /norestart flag. But the Window Agent functionality, such as MFA, Run with Privilege, or Privileged Desktop, will not work until the reboot occurs. A reboot is required to make the agent fully functional.
See KB-4618 for more information on a the silent installation.
