KB-9043: Windows DA agent current status 'The agent is not in the scope of any Audit Store'

Centrify DirectAudit ,

11 August,17 at 09:29 AM

Applies to:

All versions of Centrify DirectAudit

Problem:

Windows DirectAudit agent doesn't fall into any DirectAudit scope with message 'The agent is not in the scope of any Audit Store' shows on the configuration panel. The IP address of the DA agent host meets subnet settings in DirectAudit Manager.

And the machine IP address is reported as 127.0.0.1 in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, e.g.

Getting wdad's offline database size: 22.94 MB
Getting offline database information:
Size on disk: 4 KB
Database filesystem usage: 60.71 GB used, 120.92 GB total, 60.21 GB free
Machine's IP address(es): 127.0.0.1
... ...

Cause:
There is a static entry defined in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file:
127.0.0.1 host.fqdn

And because of static entries the machine's IP address is being reported back as 127.0.0.1, then the DA agent does not fall into the defined audit store site(s).

Resolution:

To fix the problem, please remove the entry "127.0.0.1 XXXX" from hosts file.
