Tips for finding Knowledge Articles

  • - Enter just a few key words related to your question or problem
  • - Add Key words to refine your search as necessary
  • - Do not use punctuation
  • - Search is not case sensitive
  • - Avoid non-descriptive filler words like "how", "the", "what", etc.
  • - If you do not find what you are looking for the first time,reduce the number of key words you enter and try searching again.

KB-8684: Analyze - Incomplete User Unix Data Error

After running Analyze Wizard for "Incomplete user Unix data" I get the following error: 

The user testuser has secondary profile found, but there is no primary profile associated with it.

How does this happen and how can it be addressed?

This can occur when creating more than one Unix profile for the same AD user. When you create a secondary profile for an AD user, Centrify will mark this profile as a secondary profile. If the primary profile (first profile) gets deleted this will cause the above error as the secondary profile is no longer able to find its primary. Centrify recommends to avoid the creation of multiple profiles for AD users to prevent undesired behavior in the event the primary gets deleted. 

The best way to address this error is to delete the secondary profile and re-create the primary profile for the user. If a secondary profile is required do not delete the primary if you wish to use the secondary profile.
