A customer was setting up IP tables in Linux and the port changes when it stops and re-starts. He'd like to know if there's a way to configure cdcwatch to use the same port, or range of ports, each time it launches.
Applies to: All versions of DirectControl.
Question: Is it possible to configure the CDCWatch process to use the same port, or range of ports, each time it launches so that it doesn't use a port needed by another process?
Answer: The adclient.cdcwatch process doesn't use network ports. It will only use open UNIX ports. The only way to make it so Centrify doesn't use specific ports is by reserving those ports on the UNIX system.
