Tips for finding Knowledge Articles

  • - Enter just a few key words related to your question or problem
  • - Add Key words to refine your search as necessary
  • - Do not use punctuation
  • - Search is not case sensitive
  • - Avoid non-descriptive filler words like "how", "the", "what", etc.
  • - If you do not find what you are looking for the first time,reduce the number of key words you enter and try searching again.

Why does the FileVault Recovery key show as empty when viewing device details in the admin portal if FileVault was enabled on the Mac computer before enrolling to Centrify?

This is an expected behavior. Technically, Centrify will not be able to retrieve the FileVault recovery key if FileVault was enabled before enrolling to Centrify. As the key was not stored anywhere on the machine where Centrify can fetch it during enrollment, the FileVault Recovery key will show as empty if the device is FileVault enabled before enroll.
Note: Centrify is planning on improving the UI for end users to make sure they will first enroll the device before enabling FileVault on the device in a future release.
