KB-8225: The launch_card_eventmgr.sh processes never close on Linux and Mac machines

Centrify DirectControl ,

9 February,17 at 09:59 PM

Applies to:
All versions of DirectControl before 5.4.1 running on Mac and Linux machines.

Problem:

When removing a CAC Smartcard from the card reader multiple instances of the launch_card_eventmgr.sh are starting but not closing automatically. They must be cleared manually.

Cause:
This is caused when the csh shell is being used instead of bash. The csh shell won't allow the centrify_card_eventmgr.sh script to run after the launch_card_eventmgr.sh script completes so the process doesn't close.

Resolution:
Go to the script "launch_card_eventmgr.sh" and change the line
su $TARGET_USER -c "$DBUS_HANDLE $CARD_EVENTMGR_CMD &"
to
su $TARGET_USER -c "$CARD_EVENTMGR_CMD &"
