All version of Centrify Network Information Service (adnisd)
Question:
What are the options to refresh Centrify Network Information Service maps and each option's impact.
Answer:
There are three ways to flush adnisd maps. Here are the options and their impacts
1) kill -USR1 <adnisdPID> This tells adnisd to refresh all NIS MAPS. It might not be instant because it needs to wait for adnisd to catch the signal.
2) kill -USR2 <adnisdPID> This tells adnisd to rebuild new NIS MAPS. When the new maps are built successfully, swap with the old maps. Again, it needs to wait for adnisd to catch the signal.
3) nisflush The effect is instant; current adnisd process killed, old nis maps deleted, the adnisd restarted and nis map rebuilt.
