KB-7486: Chromebook login double credentials prompt

App Access Service ,   App Gateway Service ,

15 November,16 at 05:45 PM

Applies to: Centrify Identity Service, App Edition - Google Chromebook OS Version 51

When I login to my Chromebook I get prompted for my login credentials twice. Is there a fix for this?

The normal login to a Chromebook is an email address and a password. Chrome OS version 51 and below prompts a second time for login credentials. There are two options to restore to a single prompt. Please note this should be done to an enrolled device.
The first option is to upgrade the Chrome OS to version 52 or higher.
Check for updates to the Chrome OS
To check for and install updates before the next automatic update:
1.      Click the status area, where your account picture appears.
2.      Click Settings About Chrome OS.
3.      In the "About" window that appears, click Check for and apply updates. Your Chromebook will start to install any available updates.
4.      After the updates are installed, click Restart to update.
To confirm that your Chromebook is up to date, you can check the "About" window.
The second option is to setup SAML SSO between Centrify and Google.
