KB-7439: Recommendations for running DirectControl and DirectAudit software on a domain controller

Authentication Service ,

Applies to:
All versions of Centrify DirectControl and DirectAudit on all platforms

For the Windows based components of DirectControl and DirectAudit are there any recommendations for installing this software directly on a Domain Controller?

Answer :
Centrify's recommendations on installing software on a domain controller echo those from Microsoft which is all non-essential software should be installed on member servers.  Aside from the Centrify Password Synchronization Extension from DirectControl no other component from either product is considered essential to install on a domain controller.  As a result all other Centrify DirectControl/DirectAudit components should be installed on a member server as per Microsoft best practices.  Member servers may be in the form of clients or servers and may be physical or virtual.
That said Centrify does support the installation of all our components on domain controllers so if you must or choose to install any other components on a domain controller you may do so without concern for running an unsupported configuration.
The main domain controller requirement for DirectControl and DirectAudit software is having the ability to connect to a domain controller over the network.
