KB-7411: Samba Troubleshooting - Path location for Samba and winbindd when installing adbindproxy.pl

31 March,21 at 03:52 PM

Question:
When running /usr/share/centrifydc/bin/adbindproxy.pl the following prompts appear:
Please input the Samba path :
Please specify the winbindd listen path [/run/samba/winbindd] :

Where are the locations of the requested paths?

Answer:
1. When adbindproxy.pl is asking for the Samba path, it is requesting the root of the smbd path. The location can be found with: smbd -b | grep sbin

For example:
[root@samba ~]# smbd -b | grep sbin
   SBINDIR: /usr/sbin

Please input Samba path : /usr

[root@samba ~]# smbd -b | grep sbin
   SBINDIR: /opt/samba/smb/sbin

Please input Samba path : /opt

2. When adbindproxy.pl is asking for the winbindd listen path, it is requesting the path of winbindd/pipe.
a. Start the winbind service by itself:

/etc/init.d/centrifydc-samba stop
/etc/init.d/winbind start

b. Search for windbindd socket location:
For Linux:
netstat -anp | grep winbind
For Solaris: netstat -anv | grep -i winbind

d. Note the location where the winbindd socket is located:
For example if you see
/var/run/samba/winbindd/pipe
You would use /var/run/samba/winbindd when prompted

e. Run
adbindproxy.pl
At option: Please specify the winbindd listen path [/run/samba/winbindd] :
Enter path noted earlier for windbindd.

Check:
At the bottom of
/etc/centrifydc/centrifydc.conf check if the winbindd location is correct.
