KB-7290: Admin message: We are replacing Windows Azure Active Directory Synchronization (“DirSync”) with Azure AD Connect in Office 365

App Access Service ,

18 August,16 at 04:27 PM

Applies to: Centrify Identity Service

Our organization uses Centrify for provisioning with Office 365 and received the admin message below regarding replacement of Windows Azure Active Directory Synchronization (“DirSync”) with Azure AD Connect in Office 365:
"We are replacing Windows Azure Active Directory Synchronization (“DirSync”) with Azure AD Connect in Office 365

Azure Active Directory (AD) Connect is the best way to connect your on-premises directory with Azure AD and Office 365. Azure AD Connect is replacing DirSync and Azure AD Sync and these two older sync engines are deprecated from April 13, 2016 reaching end of support April 13, 2017. You are receiving this message because you are using DirSync, Azure AD Sync, or an Azure AD Connect installation released before 2016.

How does this affect me?
After April 13, 2017 you will no longer be able to open a support case without first upgrading to Azure AD Connect.

What do I need to do to prepare for this change?
You should upgrade your sync engine to Azure Active Directory Connect. Please click Additional Information to learn more."

The message indicates an update is needed to continue support - are there any actions our organization needs to perform to prepare for this change if using Centrify for provisioning?

No actions by Centrify customers are required as all updates to provisioning are managed by Centrify during regularly scheduled maintenance. Customers may view and receive alerts for Centrify maintenance on the Centrify Trust portal -

Centrify provides a complete, Microsoft-validated replacement for Microsoft Active Directory Federation Service (ADFS) for Office 365 single sign-on. Centrify's solution for Office 365 has passed Microsoft's rigorous "Works with Office 365" validation process. The message indicates that only customers using Microsoft products should perform update to Azure AD Connect to receive continued support and does not indicate any loss in sync functions.

Centrify customers should contact Centrify Support directly for provisioning issues related to Centrify products. Microsoft will be unable to provide direct support for Centrify provisioning.
