KB-7244: Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) does not work using Microsoft Edge

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

18 October,16 at 02:42 PM

Applies to: Centrify Identity Service, App Edition

Problem:

When attempting to login to the Centrify user portal using the URL syntax of
https://cloud.centrify.com/my?customerID=<loginsuffix> as instructed per online help, IWA will fail. Users are returned to the Centrify login page and must enter credentials manually to complete the login process.

Cause:

Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) is not currently supported by Microsoft Edge and is now an open issue within Microsoft developers:
https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/platform/issues/4776775/

Workaround:

As a workaround, administrators are advised to add the tenant URL to the Local Intranet zone on the Windows client via Internet Settings. Once the Local Intranet zone has been updated, ensure users attempt login using the specific tenant URL with customer ID appended.

Local Intranet configuration example:
          User-added image   User-added image

Example login URL for IWA:  https://<customerID>.my.centrify.com/my?customerid=<customerID> (https://aaa1234.my.centrify.com/my?customerid=aaa1234)

When IWA is attempted, you will see the URL in the browser address bar automatically append with "
iwa=true". It is recommended to allow the cloud service to perform this detection as manual configuration of "iwa=true" should not be required if the correct URL syntax is used for login and the cloud connector is configured to provide IWA.

For additional information on how to configure IWA, please refer to
KB-7074: Why is Centrify changing IWA, what changes are being made, and how can I ensure IWA continues to work as expected post 16.7?

Solution:

This issue will be corrected once IWA is fully supported by Microsoft using Microsoft Edge
