When running Centrify and Symantec's LiveUpdate on the same Linux machine, the machine will frequently appear to hang and then start responding on its own after several minutes.
Applies to: All versions of Centrify agents installed on the same server as Symantec LiveUpdate.
Problem: The Centrify UNIX agent is installed on the same Linux machine as Symantec LiveUpdate. When LiveUpdate contacts Symantec for updated files, the whole system appears to hang. Removing Centrify from the machine and leaving LiveUpdate on it corrects the issue and removing LiveUpdate and leaving Centrify on it corrects the issue. As soon as they are installed together, the issue occurs.
Resolution: Enabling NSCD and changing LiveUpdate's time for calling out to be after hours is the preferred fix. LiveUpdate only needs to run 1 to 2 times per day so if those times are scheduled for off work hours, the problem doesn't occur.
