Why does Skype for Business desktop application stop working after setting up the Office 365 application with provisioning?
Answer: If using Skype for Business as part of E3 or E5 licensing and want to use the desktop application, follow the following steps:
Switch the View to the old Admin center in O365. Currently the new center does not offer this.
In Office 365 domain setup, click “Change the Domain” settings on the right side of the page.
In the DNS management screen click “Change domain purpose” text in the middle of the page.
On the next screen un-check “Skype for Business for instance messaging and online meetings” and click “next” to save. Office 365 will show some DNS settings to change in the domain. After these changes are made, test with a user account in the following format "email@example.com"
