KB-6774: Reported time is always adjusted to the local time of the Audit Analyzer

18 May,16 at 03:11 PM

Applies to: DirectAudit auditor / analyzer version 2.x or above (Windows console)

Question:

- My UNIX machine is in UTC+3 time zone, and starts being audited at 8:00 am.
- Audit analyzer Windows machine is in UTC+8
- On Audit analyzer console it says audit start time for the machine is 1:00pm.
Why the Audit analyzer console is showing different time?

Answer:

The reported time on the Audit analyzer is converted to the machine's local time.

Using the above example:
- Machine starts being audited at 8:00am in UTC+3
- If the Windows machine running Audit analyzer is in UTC+8
- The time displayed on Audit analyzer should be 5 hours ahead, which is 1:00 pm
