KB-6695: Effect of Box's login URL change

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

18 April,16 at 08:37 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify Identity Service

Question:

Box notifies their customers that the Box's login URL will be changed:

New Subdomain for Box User Login Page

On March 31, 2016, we will introduce a new subdomain (account.box.com) to every Box user’s login page. After your users login, they will be automatically redirected back to the same app.box domain that they see today. If your firewall is not configured to allow access to account.box by March 31, users may be logged out of their Box account and unable to sign in with SSO or otherwise. See Configuring Your Firewall for Box Applications for best practices and contact your Customer Success Manager or Box User Services if you have any questions.

Addition to the above notification, the following information about the API and OAuth token is provided by Box:

Even after the release of "account.box.com", we can continue to issue OAuth token from "app.box.com/api/oauth". And "app.box.com/api" is still available for now, but they recommend to use "account.box.com/api" for some future development.

Would that change affect Centrify Box SSO and provisioning?

Answer:

The Box's URL change above will not affect Centrify Box SSO and provisioning.

Since Box starts using the new URL for OAuth 'account.box.com/api', Centrify is going to make the corresponding change in 16.5 to adopt the new URL for OAuth 'account.box.com/api' to ensure the function will not be impacted.
