Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,   Centrify Identity Service, App Plus ,

29 June,16 at 01:06 AM

Applies to: Centrify Identity Service, App Edition

Question:

After the 16.2 release, users started receiving Chrome Browser notifications throughout the company asking for new permissions (see screenshot below.)

Regarding the required wide range of permissions, what does it do and why is it required?

Answer:

"Read and change all your data on the websites you visit" is needed because the Centrify Browser Extension (CBE) will put the username / password on different websites.

"Change your privacy-related settings" which is new in 16.2 is needed because during CBE login, CBE will disable the password saving feature.

Above permissions are truly Google Chrome requirements only as each Google Chrome extension has different requirement.
