KB-6352: How can the Computer Specific Current DC, Preferred Site and Subnet Site Be Shown For a Computer Joined to the Domain?

9 March,16 at 09:11 PM

Applies to:

Centrify Direct Control Suite 2016

Question:

On a Unix machine that is joined to the domain, how can the current domain controller, the site for the current DC and the site for the preferred DC be retrieved?

Answer:

In Suite 2016, the adinfo command can retrieve the current DC and the current site information.

If the preferred site is set through the parameter in /etc/centrifydc/centrifydc.conf
adclient.preferred.site: my-preferred-dc-site
but the Domain Contoller that is connected belongs to site
Subnet site: Demo-site

The following output is seen in adinfo

In Active Directory the preferred site and the current site (subnet site) values are stored on the computer object's multi-valued attribute: postalAddress

In PowerShell, the Get-CdmManagedComputer command is enhanced to show two new properties:

o Preferred Site
