KB-6308: Tripwire monitoring picked up creation and deletion of lock file and temp file for centrifydc.conf

Centrify DirectControl ,

23 June,16 at 04:45 PM

Applies to:

Centrify DirectControl All Versions

Question:

Tripwire software picked up the creation of 2 files. The files show as:

/etc/centrifydc/centrifydc.conf.20166.6c90
/etc/centrifydc/centrifydc.conf.lock

But the files do not exist on the actual system as they were removed.

What would create and delete these files?

Answer:

When a group policy update is run either from the default group policy update interval (90 minutes) or manually running '/usr/bin/adgpupdate', the .lock file is created to check the centrifydc.conf file for any changes from group policy and the temp file is created to update any settings in the centrifydc.conf from group policy, if applicable.  Those files are then deleted.
