Tips for finding Knowledge Articles

  • - Enter just a few key words related to your question or problem
  • - Add Key words to refine your search as necessary
  • - Do not use punctuation
  • - Search is not case sensitive
  • - Avoid non-descriptive filler words like "how", "the", "what", etc.

KB-6214: The screen becomes black after searching with invalid value which contain white space and backslashes "\"in “Start” items on dz desktop.

Centrify Suite 2016 on Win8.1 Pro x64 ,Win10 Ent x64, Win2012 Std x64.

Problem:

The screen becomes black after searching with invalid value which contain white space and backslashes "\" in “Start” items on dz desktop.
Here is the scenario of the problem.

1. Install Centrify Windows Agent - Access on windows client which is joined to zone, example: "Core_bhsz11" of domain "a9f1r1c2.a9f1r1.test"
2. Restart the machine.
3. Login to the Windows client as Domain Administrator.
4. Right click on the Centrify icon > select "New Desktop..." > select any role on "Authorization Center" dialog > click "OK"
5. Click "Start" menu > click "Search" > input invalid value which contain white space and backslashes "\" > press enter
    Pop up with message as "Windows cannot find …." is displayed as expected.
6. Click "OK" > do some operations on dz desktop.
    Result: The screen becomes black. 

Cause:

Workaround:
To workaround this problem, hit "ctrl alt del" then logoff, or logoff from the Task Manager.

Resolution:
The issue will be fixed in the future release.
