KB-5981: Enable Active Directory Synchronization through PowerShell commands

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:44 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify for SaaS with Office 365 provisioning

Problem:

The wizard for enabling Active Directory synchronization is not the one seen in KB-5053

User-added image

The wizard only allows configuration on Azure Active Directory Connect and not to administrative pages to activate Activity Directory Synchronization:

Workaround:

Use PowerShell as a workaround for now.

Please install the Windows Azure AD Module for Windows PowerShell from the link below:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/jj151815.aspx#bkmk_installmodule

First check the setting to see if it is necessary for the next step by running this command:
(Get-MsolCompanyInformation).DirectorySynchronizationEnabled

If it is set to false, run the PowerShell command below to activate AD Sync:
Set-MsolDirSyncEnabled –EnableDirSync $true

After running the command to activate AD Sync, run the PowerShell Command below to confirm that AD Sync is now activated:

(Get-MSOLCompanyInformation).DirectorySynchronizationEnabled

If set to true, run the following command to verify that the status is enabled, and AD Sync is activated:

(Get-MSOLCompanyInformation).DirectorySynchronizationStatus

Note: Per Microsoft it may take up to 24 hours for AD Sync to activate.

You can find more information about the commands from the MSDN article linked below:
