KB-5515: Infinite App Capture not detecting login boxes on some pages

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:11 AM

Applies to: Centrify Identity Service

Question:

When using the Centrify Browser Extension's Infinite Apps function to capture the login forms of some websites, the "Capture" function has no reaction and does not appear to capture any login form elements (The username and password boxes, etc.).

The App Capture function is confirmed to be working correctly on the majority of login pages, but it appears that some sites are not able to be captured.

What could be the reason for this?

Answer:

Some websites may embed the login form section of a site inside an html frame of the page. This means the login form may actually be on a separate page entirely, but formatted to look like it is part of the regular page content. Since this part of the page is actually located in another place, the Centrify Browser Extension is unable to detect the elements within the contents of the frame.

To check if this is the case - open the target site in Firefox and right-click on either the username or password login box. If the option item "This Frame" appears in the right-click menu, then it means the login form is embedded within a frame.

In most cases, it is possible to load up the frame contents directly by following the "This Frame" option and selecting "Show Only This Frame". Run the App Capture function in the new page and the login form elements should now be correctly detected.
