KB-4945: Users are not prompted for multi-factor authentication after setting policy

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

30 June,15 at 04:30 PM

Applies To: Centrify Identity Service, Centrify Privilege Service

Problem:

After enabling authentication policy settings to require Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), users are not
challenged for additional authentication during login to the Centrify portal.

Cause:

Centrify policy controls can be enabled for all users or specific groups of users. Administrators can also
temporarily disable MFA (10 minutes at a time) for specific users via the User Management options in the
Cloud Manager. There can be cases where a specific user has been temporarily disabled for MFA and is
not receiving a prompt. Users must also belong to a role where the policy settings are being applied.

Solution:

  • Ensure MFA is actually enabled in the authentication policy
  • Verify the User is a member of the role managed by the policy
  • View User properties in the Cloud Manager and ensure the policy shows the correct MFA settings
If the issue persists, please contact Centrify Support

Additional Information:

Administrative information on how to set authentication policy controls is available in the Cloud Manager Online Help.
