KB-4787: DZWin questions in configuring access to a specific shares and limiting access to applications

Authentication Service ,

20 August,18 at 06:41 PM

Applies to:

Centrify DirectAuthorize for Windows

Question:

1. Can DZWin be used/configured to provide access to specific shares/folders?
2. Can DZWin be used/configured to limit access to all applications except those specified with an application role?

Answer:

1.  Yes, it can.  It works only if the file server and the client machines both have DZwin installed and configured properly.

2.  DZwin can limit who can use “privilege account” to run particular applications.  Users will still be able to run the other applications using their normal accounts.  Administrator can set ACL to prevent everybody from executing the applications under particular folders (e.g. Program files), they can then grant only certain group to have “EXECUTE” permission.  They can use DZwin to elevate to have that group.
