KB-4746: What order does the Centrify Identity Service authenticate user accounts?

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:14 AM

Applies To: Centrify Identity Service

Question:

When the Centrify Identity Service authenticates a user account, in what order does it process Active Directory users when compared to cloud
(Centrify Directory Service) user accounts?

Answer:

During login, the Centrify Identity Service authenticates a user's account based on the account source directory and account attributes in
the following order:
  1. Cloud (CDS) User by username
  2. AD User by username
  3. AD User by email
  4. Cloud (CDS) User by email

Note: Centrify does not recommend creating CDS accounts that use matching username attributes of any Active Directory user
as account conflicts can occur during login. It is permissible to use an Active Directory email address with the default CDS cloud admin
account as long as the CDS admin username does not match the AD username. It is also permissible for CDS users to use the same
login suffix as AD users as long as the suffix domain mapping remains unchanged.
