KB-4629: Centrify Browser Extension for Internet Explorer not filling in form data

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:22 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify Browser Extension for Internet Explorer

Problem:

A user logs into their Centrify User Portal and clicks on a website app which uses the Centrify Browser Extension to authenticate into the site.

When using Internet Explorer, the login page is able to load, but no further action is taken; the login fields remain blank.

Clicking on the same app from Chrome or Firefox will load the site and the CBE is able to enter in the form credentials and log the user into the site.

Cause:

This will occur if the destination sites and Centrify User Portal are in different IE Security Zones with different Protected Mode settings.

For example:

User-added image

User-added image

When a page jumps between Protected Mode and Non-Protected Modes, IE Browser Extensions will not make the transition because the iexplore.exe process is restarted.

This can be shown by the process ID change when using DebugView to troubleshoot the CBE. See the KB below for more information on using DebugView:

Workaround:

Set the same Protected Mode value for all zones in Internet Explorer

Resolution:

None. The isolation of browser instances between protection modes is the security behaviour of Internet Explorer itself.
