Problem: When trying to start the syslog-writer daemon on CentOS, the following error may be encountered:

[root@centos7 cisp_syslog_writer]# docker run --name syslog-writer -it --log-driver json-file --log-opt max-size=10m --net=host -v `pwd`/data:/home/centrify-syslog-writer/data syslogwriter_image

App was run from within an incorrect folder.
Please run from within the extracted folder: cisp_syslog_writer



Troubleshooting has confirmed the user is running the command from the correct directory where the package is installed and the permissions are correct. Also, it is seen from the above example the user is running as root.


Cause: SELinux is enabled or set to "enforcing"


Solution: Please disable SELinux or set it to "permissive." If that is not an option, the syslog-writer daemon can be started using the following command (notice the slightly different path after `pwd` and the "Z")

# sudo docker run --name syslog-writer -it --log-driver json-file --log-opt max-size=10m --net=host -v `pwd`/data:/home/root/centrify-syslog-writer/data:Z syslogwriter_image
