KB-4495: Can a Computer account be renamed after joining domain?

12 April,16 at 11:22 AM

Question:
Can a Computer account be renamed after joining domain?

Answer:

You can't rename a joined computer as you can't change an AD Computer's SamAccountName.

The correct way to rename an already joined machine (and this is true whit or without Centrify), is to leave the
domain, change the hostname of the computer, and rejoin it to Active Directory
