KB-4397: Error when removing login suffix: "The alias is in use by users"

Centrify Identity Service, App Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:47 AM

Applies To: Centrify Identity Service

Problem:

When an Administrator attempts to remove a login suffix, the following error message is displayed: "Alias can
not be deleted. The alias is in use by users."

Suffix Error Message

Cause:

This error may be displayed if there are any Centrify Directory Service (cloud) accounts currently associated with
the login suffix. CDS users are required to have suffix association as soon as the first suffix for any given
tenant is created.

Solution:

Administrators would need to rename the existing suffix or create a new "dummy" suffix and associate it with
any CDS user accounts before the original suffix can be removed.

If attempting to release a login suffix for use with a different tenant ID, Administrators may find it easier to modify
the original suffix by appending "123" or similar to the suffix name instead of associating user accounts for removal.

This allows the original suffix name to be recreated in either the current tenant or new tenant instance without
having to update CDS account information.
