Tips for finding Knowledge Articles

  • - Enter just a few key words related to your question or problem
  • - Add Key words to refine your search as necessary
  • - Do not use punctuation
  • - Search is not case sensitive
  • - Avoid non-descriptive filler words like "how", "the", "what", etc.
  • - If you do not find what you are looking for the first time,reduce the number of key words you enter and try searching again.
  • - Minimum supported Internet Explorer version is IE9

KB-4121: Unable to connect to a collector as the machine was not configured to talk to the correct installation

Problem:

Unable to connect to a collector.

From the logs we found the following-

Cause:

The machine was not configured to talk to the correct installation

Solution:

Run ( dacontrol -i "xyz") with any name and hence used "xyz" to find out the actual valid installation name in case we are not aware of the actual installation name and it will show with the valid installation name as below output--

The installation name "xyz" is not valid.
Valid installations:
(actual installation name)

To double check the "actual installation name" go to DA Collector Control Panel and under General tab it will show under "Current installation".

Now run the following command again and this time use the "actual installation name"--

dacontrol -i (actual installation name)

After this machine will be able to contact the collector.
