KB-3926: Unexpected error occurred when loading domain "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 11:14 AM

Applies to: Centrify DirectControl version 5.1.2

Question:

The following message is seen in EventViewer when using Centrify's Zone Provisioning agent (ZPA). Is there any reason for this?

Unexpected error occurred when loading domain <domain name>. Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Answer:

This is a minor annoyance as it does not affect provisioning operation, but does generate error event in Windows Event Log every provisioning interval.

This can happen if default zone container has not been set.

Workaround is to set up default zone container:

1) They can open Access Manager, connect to the forest that has the issue.

Right click on the Access Manager MMC console Root node, click "Setup Wizard..." menu.

2) A setup wizard appears, on the "Default Container for Zones" page, check the "Change default zone container" checkbox, pick the AD location for it, and click "Next" button, and finish the setup wizard.

The ZPA error will be gone.

Resolution:

This has been fixed in Suite 2014 (Centrify DirectControl version 5.1.3)
