KB-3549: How to enable X11 Forwarding to allow XStart on OpenText Exceed to establish ssh connection

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 11:47 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify-Enabled OpenSSH

Question:

How can an Xstart ssh session be established with OpenText Exceed on systems running Centrify-Enabled OpenSSH?

Answer:

OpenText Exceed uses an X application called Xstart to establish an X11 forwarding ssh connection.

For a successful ssh connection in Xstart, administrators must make sure X11 Forwarding is enabled for their sessions on the client system.
Centrify has X11 Forwarding disabled by default in: /etc/centrifydc/ssh/sshd_config.

On the server running Centrify-Enabled OpenSSH:

Edit: /etc/centrifydc/ssh/sshd_config

Change this line from:

#X11Forwarding no

to

X11Forwarding yes

Restart Centrify sshd and any startup scripts.
