KB-3184: Can Role inheritance be disabled for a specific Child Zone?

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 11:43 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify DirectControl

Question:

Can Role inheritance be disabled for a specific sub-zone (Child Zone)?

Example:

A DB2 admin Role (and Rights) are defined in the Parent Zone and assigned with no issues.

There will be one new Child Zone where this group of people should not have DB2 admin rights.

Is there a way to stop the Role assignment from being inherited into this Child Zone?

Answer:

When assigning a Role to a Parent Zone, the Child Zone will also get it.

There is no selective inheritance which can be done.

This is by design and the solution is to create a Zone which is not under that Parent Zone.
