KB-3050: Does Centrify support DFS with Mac OS X?

Centrify Identity Service, Mac Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:07 AM

Applies to: Centrify DirectControl version 5.1.0 and higher on Mac OS X 10.7 and higher.

Question:

Does Centrify support mounting Distributed File Systems (DFS) network shares on Mac systems?

Answer:

Yes, support for DFS was introduced in OS X 10.7 and can be used in conjunction with Centrify DirectControl 5.1.0 and higher.

Please see the following article for more information:

Note 1:
  • Although DFS was first supported by Apple in OS X 10.7, reliability of mounting was not improved until the later builds of 10.7, such as 10.7.4 and 10.7.5.
  • This is especially true of DFS referral links that point to another DFS link.

Note 2:
  • DirectControl 5.1.0 does NOT enable DFS support on OS X 10.6.
  • As an alternative solution, GroupLogic's DFSConnect can be used.
