KB-2827: Post-install userscript support in version 5.1 of the CDC Agent for Mac OS X

Centrify Identity Service, Mac Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:07 AM

Applies to: Centrify DirectControl 5.1 and higher for Mac OS X.

Question:

In earlier versions of the Centrify documentation, it refers to unpacking the .pkg installer file in order to get to the scripts for post-install operations.

However it looks like support for this has been taken out entirely as the 5.1 installer no longer has a check for any userscripts to be executed.

Using the technique from KB-2671 also fails:

Does version 5.1 of the CDC Agent for Mac OS X still support userscript files to automate post-install operations?

Answer:

Support for pre/post-install userscripts had to be removed with the introduction of Gatekeeper in OS X 10.7.5

There is no official way to support this functionality anymore as the Mac agent package now has to be a code-signed in order to pass Gatekeeper and is not supposed to be modified in any way.

Disabling/bypassing Gatekeeper will also have no effect.

Version 5.1.0 can still be deployed via Apple Remote Desktop, but the AD Join Assistant GUI will be displayed after the install completes.

Version 5.1.1 and higher can be deployed via ARD completely silently and without modifying the installer package.
