KB-2771: Is there an ADEdit function to add a computer to an AD group?

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 11:45 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify DirectControl for UNIX/Linux

Question:

In the ADEdit manual that there is a function to add a user to an AD group (add_user_to_group) but none to add a computer.

This function does not work when the argument is a computer instead of a user.

Is there an ADEdit function to add a computer to an AD group?

Answer:

Use the following format for the computer name instead: your_machine$@yourdomain.com

Where your_machine refers to the machine being added and yourdomain.com refers to the AD domain. For example:

add_user_to_group redhat$@twoway.support adgroup2@twoway.support
