KB-2695: Logging of dzdo commands in AIX

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 11:10 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify DirectControl on AIX platforms.

Question:

Why are dzdo commands not seen in the /var/log/secure logs of an AIX system?

Answer:

By default, an AIX system will not attempt to write to the secure log file.

In order to have executed dzdo commands logged on an AIX system, do the following steps as root:

1. Add the following two lines to /etc/syslog.conf

auth.debug /var/log/secure
authpriv.debug /var/log/secure

2. Create the file "secure" with the command:

  touch /var/log/secure

3 Restart the syslogd with the command:

  refresh -s syslogd

Once this has been done, the information for issued dzdo commands will be logged in /var/log/secure .
