KB-2538: How to rename a zone in Centrify DirectControl console

Centrify DirectControl ,

29 September,16 at 08:45 PM

Applies to:

All versions of Centrify DirectControl

Question:

What are the steps to rename a Centrify zone?

Answer:

To rename a Centrify zone, please ensure that adequate permissions have been granted, as per page 240 of the Centrify Deployment and Planning guide:

https://www.centrify.com/downloads/products/documentation/suite2014/centrify-unix-deployment-guide.pdf#page=240

The rename process reflects the following steps:

1) Open DirectManage Access Manager. Right-click on the zone in question and rename.

2) On the Unix machine bound to the zone, please flush the cache via 'adflush', and then restart the centrifydc service.

3) adinfo should now show the renamed zone.

4) Role groups can be renamed too and is not part of zone rename process.

Note: Should the above steps not work as expected, please verify that the zone container object in Active Directory was actually changed. Here is an example ldapsearch that may help to narrow this down:

/usr/share/centrifydc/bin/ldapsearch -QLLLrm "(displayName=*CimsZoneVersion7)" cn objectGUID

This will return the DN, CN and objectGUID for all zone objects contained within the joined domain. The DN and CN values for your zone should reflect the renamed value and the objectGUID should be unchanged.
