KB-2496: How to update the "ManagedBy" attribute in AD?

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 11:09 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify DirectControl.

Question:

Is it possible to use either "adupdate" or another Centrify binary to update the "ManagedBy" attribute in AD?

Answer:

Centrify's adedit utility can be used to manage the managed attribute of any object in AD.

Example:

> bind ocean.net
> select_object "CN=host,OU=Servers,OU=Unix,dc=domain,dc=com"
> show
Bindings:
domain.com: dc.domain.com
Current AD object:
CN=host,OU=Servers,OU=Unix,DC=domain,DC=com
Forests have valid license:
> set_object_field managedby "CN=admin,OU=Groups,OU=User-Accounts,DC=domain,DC=com"
> get_object_field managedby
{CN=admin,OU=Groups,OU=User-Accounts,DC=domain,DC=com}
