KB-2441: How to install Centrify's DA Session player as a standalone program.

Auditing and Monitoring Service ,

12 April,16 at 11:11 AM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify DirectAudit on Windows platform only.

Can the Centrify DA session player be installed as a separate, standalone program on a Windows machine so that one can view sessions without having to install the complete Centrify DirectAudit console?

Yes, it is possible to do this, but "installation name" and "session-id" must be known when launching from the command-line (Note: this is not a GUI tool).
e.g. C:\ daplayer.exe /installation=DefaultInstallation /id="{session-id}

1. .NET 3.5 is installed on the target machine
2. User running either the DAPlayer or FindSessions utility must have enough permissions to view audited sessions

All the source of files must be picked up from the location where Centrify DirectAudit Auditor Console has been installed.
e.g. [PROGRAM_FILES]\Centrify\DirectAudit 2012\AuditConsole

List of files (mandatory)
[en-US]\daplayer.resources.dll (note the path [en-US] has to be preserved)

List of files (optional - Help files)

Copy the above files into any folder on the target machine. While copying the files, please preserve any sub-directory folder/file structures on the target machine. Open a DOS prompt and navigate to the location where DAplayer was extracted and run either daplayer.exe or FindSessions.exe to launch.

Note: It is recommended to get the latest files from the Centrify suite.
