Question:
Does Centrify Direct Control support wildcard automount entries in NIS maps?
For example, is it possible to enter a wildcard entry in the auto_home map with a key of “*” and value of something like “host:/vol/vol0/&”, allowing the automounters to handle generic situations? And just manually maintain non-conformist home directory mappings in the Direct Control console, rather than manually creating an entry for every new user.
Answer:
DirectControl does support the wildcard automount in NIS map. First the auto mounter has to recognize this and adnisd simply answers with the entry it finds. It is up to the auto mounter to process it. Adauto.pl specifically works with this kind of entry.
