KB-2235: Access denied for all users when using stock SSH

Centrify DirectControl ,

12 April,16 at 11:08 AM

Applies to: All versions of stock SSH.

Question:
Centrify is connected as seen in adinfo -V however none of the users can login using SSH. The message is "Access denied" and Centrify debug logs show "error in conversation". The sshd process is running. Any reason?

Answer:
This can happen if the below line is commented out in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file of the Centrify server running stock sshd.

PAMAuthenticationViaKBDInt yes

It needs to be uncommented and restarted. For more information on this line, please see the man pages of sshd_config file and the below link provided as a courtesy.
