Answer:

The "Unsupported Schema Type" error will appear when the "displayName" attribute of the Zone object does not match with the actual zone type, here are the corresponding value for each zone type:

Classic RFC-2307 compatible Zone
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
description: schema:CDC_RFC_2307
displayName: $CimsZoneVersion5
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Classic Standard Zone
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
description: schema:Dynamic_Schema_2_0
displayName: $CimsZoneVersion4
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Classic SFU Zone
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
description: schema:SFU_3_0
displayName: $CimsZoneVersion2
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hierarchical SFU Zone
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
description: schema:SFU_3_0
displayName: $CimsZoneVersion9
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hierarchical Standard Zone
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
description: schema:Dynamic_Schema_2_0
displayName: $CimsZoneVersion6
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hierarchical RFC-2307-compatible Zone
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
description: schema:CDC_RFC_2307
displayName: $CimsZoneVersion7

Solution:

Please access to the Zone object in ADSI Edit console, right click on the properties and check with the values above to make sure it matches with your corresponding zone type.
