KB-1920: Configuration parameters dns.dc.<domain.name.>: and dns.gc.<domain.name.>: are case sensitive

Centrify DirectControl ,   Centrify Identity Service, Mac Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:46 AM

Problem:

When you configure dns.dc.<domain.name>:<hostname>[hostname] and dns.gc.<domain.name>:<hostname>[hostname] in centrifydc.conf in upper case it will cause a DNS is down warning:

Aug 25 12:46:47 abcd adclient[6398]: INFO <main> dns.state DNS is down
Aug 25 12:46:47 abcd sshd[6402]: Connection from 11.124.99.71 port 4713
Aug 25 12:46:53 abcd adclient[6398]: INFO <fd:18 get object> base.bind.healing
Lost connection to . Running in disconnected mode

Cause:

dns.dc/dns.gc parameters are used to override / bypass DNS lookup of SRV records for the domain. The domain name must be specified in lower case, otherwise it does not work.

Workaround:

Please enter domain names in all lower case, for example:

dns.dc.abcd.centrify.com: nosuchhost
dns.gc.abcd.centrify.com: nosuchhost

NOTE: You can also add a dot "." at the end of the line to improve performance:

dns.dc.abcd.centrify.com: nosuchhost.
dns.gc.abcd.centrify.com: nosuchhost.
