KB-1621: Screensaver GP's are not getting applied on the Mac machine

Centrify Identity Service, Mac Edition ,

12 April,16 at 11:07 AM

Applies to: DirectControl 4.4.x on Mac OS X 10.5/10.6

Problem:

Screensaver GP's are showing up in /var/centrifydc/reg/users/<username>/gp.report but are not getting applied.

Cause:

This behavior is caused due to existence of multiple screensaver plist under the ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost folder. To verify, run the following commands:

1) Login as an AD user
2) Bring up the terminal
3) Run: cd ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost
4) Run: ls -al | grep -i  screensaver

If step 4 results in more than one file as shown below then proceed to workaround. If Step 4 results in only one file, please contact Centrify Support for further troubleshooting.

samac-laptop:ByHost marc$ ls -al | grep -i screen
-rw------- 1 marc marc 538 May 21 14:36 com.apple.screensaver.0016cbaf9bc1.plist
-rw------- 1 marc marc 198 May 21 14:49 com.apple.screensaver.0017f2db85d7.plist
Workaround:

Please follow the below steps:

1) Login as AD user and bring up terminal to run the next steps
2) Run: cd ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost
3) Run: rm com.apple.screensaver.*
4) Run: adgpupdate
5) Logout and log back in

Resolution:

Fixed in DirectControl 4.4.2 ( Centrify Suite 2010.2 )
