KB-1255: Is a reboot required after joining the machine to the domain via adjoin?

Centrify Identity Service, Mac Edition ,

12 April,17 at 10:13 PM

Applies to: All versions of Centrify DirectControl on all platforms.

Question:

Is a reboot required after joining the machine to the domain via adjoin?

Answer:

In general the answer is yes.
Since the PAM and NSS libraries are critical security components of the system, Centrify strongly recommends a reboot to ensure no running applications are still holding the older version of the dynamic library in memory. It is theoretically possible for the system administrator to identify all such applications and restart them manually, but this knowledge may not be readily available. Note that the Centrify installation does include an automation mechanism which you can set the default answers to each question via an answer file.

Note: If you prefer not to reboot the machine, refer to KB-0232: Services to be restarted after join of the machine to the domain
